7 Benefits To Becoming A US Citizen
If you’re considering becoming a U.S.citizen, you can rest assured that there are many benefits waiting for you if you make the big decision. As an accomplished EB-5 program, American Venture Solutions is happy to hear that you have an interest in U.S. citizenship and is dedicated to making sure you have all of the resources necessary to succeed in your goals, while at the same time, stimulating the economy of the beautiful country you could call home! In this blog, I’d like to tell you about some of the main benefits you can look forward to as a permanent resident of the United States of America.
If your EB-5 is approved, you will obtain a conditional green card. After three years, the conditions are removed and then you can apply for a full U.S. citizenship. For more information on how this works, read our blog titled, “What It Means To Be A Conditional Resident Of The United States”.
With U.S.citizenship comes the right to vote in the greatest country in the world! Citizens can vote in the federal and state elections. However, in some states, people who are accused of a felony are not allowed to vote in elections. So as long as you keep a good standing in your state, you’ll have nothing to worry about!
#2) Securing a future for you and your family
When you’re a citizen of the United States, you also have the opportunity to petition for your family to join you. Immigrant visas or green cards can be obtained for your spouse, children, parents, and siblings through either Immediate Relative Immigrant Visas (Unlimited) or Family Preference Immigrant Visas (Limited).
- Immediate Relative Immigrant Visas allow people that have a close family relationship with a United States citizen to obtain a visa. These types include spouses, unmarried children under 21, orphans adopted abroad, orphans that will be adopted in the U.S., and parents of a U.S. citizen.
- Family Preference Immigrant Visas are limited and for more distant family relationships with a U.S. citizen including unmarried sons and daughters age 21 and over, married sons and daughters, and brothers and sisters with spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens.
When you move to a new country, you want to make sure that your children are getting the education they deserve. If you decide to get citizen status for your children, they will have the opportunity for scholarships and grants to help them afford a college education. On top of that, the U.S. is home to one of the world’s best education systems, specifically in its colleges and universities. This is not a right afforded to green card holders.
#4) Running for office
If you’ve ever thought of running for office, or you were a politician in your country of origin, you’ll now have that option as a U.S. citizen! This is a great opportunity to represent your newfound state and represent the nation you now call home.
#5) You can leave for any amount of time
Another great benefit you get from your citizenship is the right to leave the country for any period of time without losing your status. This can be a challenge for people with green cards because if they need to leave the United States to visit family or friends, they could possibly have their card revoked. As a citizen, you don’t have to worry about this.
#6) Government benefits
As a U.S. citizen, you will have access to many of the same benefits as someone who was born here. You’ll get access to social security benefits, welfare, food stamps, and much more!
#7) Federal jobs
Much like running for office, federal jobs are only available to U.S. citizens. Court clerks, postal workers, and FBI agents are all federal positions that citizens can possess. The best part is, many of these jobs offer great salaries, benefits, and pensions.
